01 June 2022, Dancing=Donations!

Updated: Jun 17, 2022

After dancing the night away at our 6th Annual Coulee Hoolie Ceili in March, LBFA members and friends raised over $3,000! We delightedly donated half of these funds to a local non-profit group, our own La Crosse Citizen Advocacy. The other half of these funds were donated to CoAction - West Cork, based in Bantry, Ireland.

On June 1, 2022, LBFA presented a check for $1,500 to La Crosse Citizen Advocacy, enjoying beautiful weather and our gorgeous Bantry Friendship Garden at the Riverside International Friendship Gardens in Riverside Park.

Well done, LBFA Members, Friends, and Dancers!

Congratulations to La Crosse Citizen Advocacy and to CoAction - West Cork!

6th Annual Coulee Hoolie Ceili, March 26, 2022.

As you gear up for Saint Paddy’s day make sure to save some celebrating for the 6th Annual Coulee Hoolie Ceili (pronounced KAY-lee). The La Crosse-Bantry Friendship Association (LBFA) announces this year’s event will be Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the American Legion, 711 6th St. S. in La Crosse.

This unique Irish celebration will include music, dance, storytelling, food and fun. The Coulee Hooligans will again provide a backdrop to the evening with traditional Irish music, while caller Tim Jenkins calls a variety of Irish set dances, complete with instruction so everyone can join in. In addition, there will be Irish food, a cash bar and silent auction.

This year’s event will benefit Citizen Advocacy in La Crosse and CoAction in our sister city, Bantry, Ireland. Half a world away in Bantry, Ireland are working to provide support for people with a wide range of ability. LBFA wants to help raise awareness, raise funds and bring a little Irish celebration to La Crosse.

Proceeds from last year’s virtual event funded $3,000 split between WisCorps in La Crosse and Bantry Tidy Towns. This year the goal is to at least match, preferably exceed, last year’s numbers for these organizations.

The Coulee Hoolie Ceili will include music, Irish set dancing (lessons included), storytelling silent auction, Irish food and cash bar. Silent auction items to include a guitar, Brewers tickets, spa package, YMCA gift certificates, local dining certificates, gift baskets and much more!
