Brilliant! Thank you to our own Linda Pfaff for the photos and summary.... so wonderful to host our friends from Bantry, Ireland, right here in La Crosse, Wisconsin:*

"Last week, La Crosse and LBFA were blessed with a visit for several days by two visitors, Aiden McCarthy and Diarmuid McCarthy, of our Irish sister city, Bantry, West Cork, Ireland. Aiden has served as mayor there and helped establish their Tourism Office. Dairmuid is a surveying engineer there.

During their visit, the McCarthys were shown some of the beautiful sites of La Crosse including a tour of the Riverside International Friendship Gardens, especially our Irish Gardens; attended a Q&A session at the LBFA monthly meeting; were honored at a reception at the Radisson; and officially presented a $2500 check for the Bantry Inshore Search & Rescue Association - Bantry Lifeboat - which is half of the proceeds from the annual LBFA Coulee Hoolie Ceili fundraiser - the other half was presented to La Crosse Dive Unit back in May 2024.

They commented on the extreme friendliness of our area that may outdo Ireland’s reputation of same!! Special thank you to the La Crosse County Historical Society, Mary of the Angels Chapel, Sr. Mary Ann Gshwind, the Preservation Alliance of La Crosse (PAL), and thank you to Travis, Troy and other Radisson staff."
