In October 2023, the La Crosse Bantry Friendship Association, with several VIPs - Very Irish People ;-) - visited our Sister City, Bantry, West Cork, Ireland, as an official Delegation of the City of La Crosse.
Our purpose is simple: Citizen Diplomacy.
We believe people with boots on the ground, meeting and getting to know each other face to face, can accomplish more than Presidents, Prime Ministers, Dictators, Kings, Queens, and figure heads will ever accomplish through politics. Through 1:1 relationships between citizens, politics and power plays fall away and the real work toward peace and understanding of one another begins. In other words, through relationships, and cultural and business exchanges, we work toward a more just and equitable world... and World Peace.
Last year, about 20 Members and Friends traveled as a delegation to Bantry, Ireland. Their brief itinerary follows:
Itinerary
15 Oct 2023, approx. 2:00pm: depart Dublin Airport for Bantry. Will arrive about 7:00pm in Bantry, to the Maritime Hotel.
16, 17, 18, 19 October: Reception, local activities, local tours, etc. Details TBD.
20 October: Depart Bantry for Dublin Airport (bus).
